He was an able man and very popu lar personally, and BO devoted to his work that he became a slave to it , and laboring night and day to keep up with his large praotioe, it is said j that he began to resort to stimulat ing drugs to keep us his strength and that this led to his final undoing. He was a friend to all and could never say no to a supplicating hand. It is a well known fact that he would not orly attend professionally but actually nurse the poorest patient with the same care and attention that ho would give his wealthiest patient, even neglecting the latter if necessary. The result of the election for moderator was rather peouliar. Dr. HoweitOD received 84 votes, Dr. Ceoil 67 and Dr. Alexander 20. It required 88 votes to eleot, so there was no ohoioe. On the seoond ballot Dr. Howerton received 88 votes, Dr. Ceoil 76 and Dr. Alexander 8, which gave Dr. Howerton a majority of TWO votes. The ordinary business o' the As sembly received doe attention. The time of the Assembly was taken up principally in the consideration and discussion of the "Charlotte Ar ticle* of Agreement." The disons sion was general, able and somewhat heated. The vote on this question was taken on the seventh day of the session. The first vote was an nounced as 95 to 95. Albert Motoy, a half breed Indian, representing the Presbytery of Indian Territory, stated that he had voted under a misapprehension and asked leave to change bis vote from no to yes. Previous to taking the vote Elder John W. Faxon, of Chattanooga, Tenn., explained his vote, saying that he oould not vote to place the ohurch of his fathers in the hands of strangers, even though his presbytery wished it. He therefore voted no. Ruling Elder A. M. Soales, a for mer member of Ccngre??? from North Carolina, said his presbytery voted in favor of the "Articled of Agree ment," but he felt compelled to vote against them. In fact the members generally voted without regard to the manner in whioh their* presbytery voted in this matter. Enough members of Enoree Pres bytery voted in favor of these arti cles of agreement to have defeated them if they had voted differently. By the adoption of the Charlotte articles the Southern Presbyterian ohurch agrees to enter a cou noil of reformed churoheB. The counoil will be made up of representatives of all the churches holding tho Pres byterian system and can make re commendation to* the General As semblies by whioh it was created, but will have no legislative power. It is the intention, however, to let thu council work out a general plan for homo and foreign missionary work, so that the ohurches will work in harmony and not in conflict, aa has been the case in the past. Keep Your Nerve It is nerve energy that runs the organs of your body. The storage battery is the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, and from this battery nerve force is sent out through the system of nerves. To keep the body healthy you must have plenty of nerve force ; if you have not, the organs work imperfectly, the circulation is sluggish, digestion bad, appe tite poor, kidneys inactive, and aches, pains and misery are the penalty. You can keep the system strong with Dr. Miles' Nervine. It assists in generating nerve energy ; it strengthens the nerves and makes the whole system strong and vigorous.
