The roads in this aeotion are in pretty bad oondition, and not much is being done to mend them. Our $1 or two days does not keep them np by half. So there is room for work some where farther back than the oonnty board. They can not work the roads without means. We truly hope there will be some obangea made in some way to give us better roads. Prof. John narrie, of Townville, and W. H. Talley, of thia section, took a pleasure trip to Lake Toxaway and other pointe in the hill country laat week; J. H. Wigington and John M. Evening Tribune, of July 27th, has the following to say about a former Walhalla man : Y. L. Norman takes oharge of the St. Cloud hotel on Wednesday, the first day of August and the Normandy will olose. Knowing the Interest felt in this move a Tribune representative saw Mr. Norman and he made the following statement: 'Just say to the people of Concord that The St. Cloud Normandy will be con ducted in the same liberal plan that has made the Normandy famous. No pains or expense will be spared to make the new hotel the poer of any in the State. I have Roomed the service of two of the finest meat and pastry cooks in North Carolina and the cuisine and general ser vice of the house will be improved upon.
