It is thought that the conference with tho now directors was in every way satisfac tory. The new board, as indicated in an expression from one of them yesterday, ia disposed to follow thc suggestions of reform which Senator Tillman outlined in his "testimony" before the investigat ing committee. "What do you think of tho sugges tion," the Senator was asked, "of the dispensary people organizing to meet the organization of the other side?" "I think another March convention a good idea." Then the Senator volunteered a piece of information. "You know I've got John C. Calhoun's old committee room at Washington now," he said winking. "So you seo that I am at least breathing the aroma of statesmanship." Little Minion Passes Over the River. Did Not Make Its Annual Report. Columbia, March ti.-The fact that tho old Stato Board of Dispensary Directors liavo not made theirannual report, which was duo to como lo tho Legislature, is causing some surprise and comment. ] There are no members of the old board i in the city to throw any light on tho sub ject and Chief Hook keeper Charles is .OHO out of tho city. A representative of Dun's agency, who has been directed to make an investigation of the matter, was told at the State dispensary that the report had been flied with the State ju in ter, but tho State printer says this is a mistake. The incident is attracting moro attention than otherwise hy reason of the fact that the old hoard has shown general apathy since its term expired, though it is still in charge of the busi ness inasmuch as the new members have not secured their commissions. Put a Bull Behind the Bars We call especial attention to the hinge joint at each intersection of stay with main bars. This is the essential of every good wire fence. Unless the stay bas a hinge joint the fence cannot receive pressure from contact and right itself. All rigid stay fences have been unsatisfactory and disappointing, as they crush down and when once down, remain so. AMERICAN FENCE Is made with rn hinge joint, by which the maximum of elasticity is secured and the fence if properly stretched, remains in place indefi nitely. With the hinge joint, no amount of strain on the bars can effect tbs connection of stay and bar, while the opposite is true of all rigid stay f cutes.
