On last Sabbath the new pastor of the Methodist churoh, Rev. O. M. Abney, preached to an appreciative audience. Mr. Abney is away at present, but will return to Seneca early in January with bis wife and will board at the Isbell boarding house. Last Sabbath, at tho Baptist churoh, Rev. C. Wardiaw held divine services, at which he tendered bis resignation as pastor of the church. The necessity for the step is greatly regretted by the mem bers of the congregation here, which wa8 keenly evidonced by the emotion ex pressed by the members at the impressive servioes. The prayers of many friends aro offered in behalf of the family, that they may lind health and content iu the field to whioh they go. Henry Cheek was a quiet, though protty, home wedding. On last Wednesday morning, Decem ber 20th, the spirit of little Robert Francis McWhortor took its Hight, tho chango coming at 0.30 o'clook. The death of tho little ono was a shook to the family and their friends here, as bo was convalescent from a sovore attack of pneumonia and his lovell ones regarded his rocovory as simply a question of time. George Hasty, one of the proprietors of the Piedmont Hotel in Gaffney, shot Milan Bennett and Abbott Davison, members of the troupe playing "Nothing But Money," on Friday morning, killing Bennott instantly and giving Davison a mortal wound, from which he died the following day. The company had been in Gaffney several days giving perform ances in tho theatre. On Thursday Hasty mado an insulting proposal to one of the young women of the company and on Thursday night was oaught pooping ovor tho transom at the room of another. Mr. Bennett, who was the musioian of tho company, and Mr. Davison, tho comedian, went to Hasty on Friday morning and spoke to him about his conduct. A quarrel ensued in which ho shot both men.
