The freight train on tho Bluo Ridgo road, coming from Walhalla to Anderson, was partially wrecked on Seneca rivor bridge about 8.30 yestorday afternoon. Tho wreck was a peculiar ono. and those who wore on tho train regard it as mirac ulous that they were not killod. Tho train consisted of soven freight cars ami a passenger coach. Tho train ap proached tho bridge at tho accustomed rate of speed, and as the train was just, over tho stream the trouble began. Tho en gino and two cars passed over in safety, but tho third car, a coal ear, jumped tho track and plunged into tho rivor, followed by tho two next cars, which woro loaded with lumber. The two romaining froight cars and tho passenger car remained on tho track. There woro a number of pas songors ou board and they woro badly shaken by tho jar of tho Budden stop, but nobody was seriously injured. Ono sot of trucks was knocked from under tho pasBongor coach, and tho coach careened dangerously over on ono sido of tho track, but went no further. The passengers crawled out of the coach and crossed the rivor on tito public road bridgo, which was near by, and woro brought on to Pendleton and Anderson. Tho west hun ml passenger train, which loft Anderson about 4.15 found tho track blocked aud was stopped at Pendleton. Most of tho passengers wero brought back to Anderson, ai ri vim; hero al out 7.30. When tho cars jumped the track OP tlu bridgo tho rails and crossties wor" Lorri bly torn up, and the cars plunger through tho weatherboarding of tho budge, jghich is a covered ono. lt is not thought lat tho trostle work of tho bridgo was .jured, but this could not be told for Artain yesterday afternoon. A forco of minds was carried from tho city to tho scene of tho wt eek last night and it is hoped to have tho track cleared so trains can pass some timo to-day. Those who woro on tho train think they had the narrowest escapo from ho ing kiled that thoy will have. Tho scene was a terrifying ouo as they looked from the high bridge to the waters bonoath where the freight cars bad fallon. Tho bridgo is nearly 50 foot high at this point, and if tho passenger coach had gone down it is not likely that anybody on board would have lived to tell tho 'story. Tho train was in chargo of Conductor Tom Mnxwell and Engineer Hutohison. They said they could not tell what mado the car jump the track, and this will probably never bo known.-Anderson Haily Mail, July 27th. If a Man Lie to You?
