[Tho Stato, Novomhor 21st.] Tho Governor yesterday received a letter wbioh discloses a sad state of affairs. A poor woman writes that her husband is being sent to ruin on account of the illegal, as well as legal, operations of a government still in her neighborhood. She wanted to know if there is any way to have the distillery closed. The Governor will send a special agent there to look into the matter. The dispensary law allows stills to be operated when they are authorized by the State Board of Control, but there must be no retailing on the premises. Yet hero is what this poor woman writes : "It has become a publio nui sance to tho community, causing much trouble to women and children. Tho whiskey at this place is sold indiscriminately and in any quantity, on tho Sabbath and to any person. It belongs to Wiley Moody in the northeastern portion of Piokens county. The whiskey is sold by a nogro named Poter White. My husband drinks to oxocss a groat deal.
