Thompson's residence. -Mrs. David Pitts died at her homo, near Fort Madison, on Friday morning, March 20th, aged about thirty years. Sho had been sick for some timo, but no one thought she was seriously ill. When some of the neighbors called they found her lying on tho bed dead, with hor hus band hy her sido too sick to know what had taken place. Sho was a mombor of tho Baptist church. Tho deceased loaves a husband and ono child to mourn ber death. -Mrs. M. E, Ilunnicutt died at hor home, about two miles from Soncca, hist Sunday night. Sho lived in a part of tho house occupied by Mr. Chas. Brown and family. She retired in tho evening, ap parently in good health. Sho was found dead in bed Monday morning at ii o'clock by Mr. Brown. She died of heart dis ease. She leaves live children, nono of whom were at homo at tho timo of her death. Mrs. Ilunnicutt was about fifty five years of age. The Faster services in tho Walhalla Methodist church on last Sunday morn ing were, interesting and edifying in a high degree. Rev. (J. F. Last Woduosday about noon two mulos belonging to Deoombor Gadsden, a well to-do colorod man living in Walhalla, woro killed by a singular accident. Ho employed n man to cut and haul wood from a place about two milos from town. Tho mules wore hitched in tho woods a short distanco from whore a largo troc was hoing cut. Just as tho troo was about to fall a hoavy wind bogan blow ing from tho direction in which it was intended tho trco should fall, and blow it down, tho troo falling across tho back of ono mulo mid tho neck of tho other. Tho neck of tho ono was brokon and it died immediately, and tho other lived only a short timo.
