Thc circumstances which lcd to his arrest are as fol lows: Colonel Lipscomb, tho Super? in tendent, bad some information which lcd him to suspect that sumo of (ho convicts wem making plans to escape, and in pursuing his invc tiiiiiii nia into tho matter, caused one of the white piisoncrs to secreto himself under the bed of ono of tho suspected negro con victs. Whilo them, other convict4 canto in j und engaged in conversation with tho negro about ibo plot and let out much of heir proposed plans of op?rations, all of which wa? reported by tho man under thc bcd to the authorities of tho Penitentiary* Day before yesterday Colono! Lipscomb bad fifteen or sixteen of tho implicated convicts brought up and confronted with the proofs against them. Rodgers, both col ored. Juntos is from Chesterfield nnd his sentence is for il'iviy yunis, for murder.
