VACCINATII'N IN LAUBEN* -The report from the Sub Board of Health fur Laurens -County, to the State Board, regarding the ratio of vaccinated to unvaeoinated perilous io thus given: I "Laurens.-We think that vaccination hai been pretty generally resorted to up to a period of about twenty years ago, in thia section, county and town. The ratio of vac cleated tn unvaccineted persons is perhaps one half to two-thirds unvucoinited. The Department of Agriculture reports for March shows inoreased area in winter wheat in the Western, tbe same as last year in tbe Middle, and a deorease in the South', Live stook is reported generally in gocd health but bad order with vast losses in tho far West. The census shows that establishments for' the manufacturo and manipulation of iron" and steel in the United States numbered 1,005 in J 880 against 808 in 1870. The capital invested in au oh industries was in oreased $109,000,000 in the ten year?. In 1870 Pennsylvania made 50 per cent, of all the iron in the country, and now makes 40' per oent. West Virginia increased ber prov duot from 72.000 to 147,000 tops. Alabama from 7.000 to 68,000, Georgia from 10,000 to 35,000, Tennessee from 34,000 to 77,000, Virginia from 37,000 to 56,000. GALVESTON, April 16.-A speoial from' San Antonio to the Newe, dated April 15, gives the details of a horrible tripple murder about seven milos from that city. John Simmons, a heavy ntook owner, left his homo on Sunday. Yesterday his herder J. S. Phillips, went out with ?heep. About noon Mrs. Simmons was found lying in tho herder's room with her throat out and ber body bear ing evidence of an outrageous assault. An alarm was given, and soon after the bodies of MrB. Simmons's child and her mother, MTSV Parker, were found at tbe foot of an embank mont one hundred yards from the house their skulls being crushed in with a rook. The border eeems to think that Simmons waar the murderer but be himrelf was arrested and committed without bail. The Elborton Gazette says: '?Wo an nounced a fow weeks ago that a maali cotton factory would be put up in Elberton. We now believe that one will be pat ap ia town and another tn tho country-that Elbert county will have two ootton factories; in operation within a year.
