THE ADVANTAGES OF THE STOCK LAW.-A Greenville correspon dent of tho News and Courier^ writing under date ot February 22d, speaking of (he preparations for early farm operations in that County, says: One of the causes,' and Drobaly the principle one, of early work is the beneficial effect of tho stock law, which extends over tito greater portion of Green ville county and which will doubt*' less be asked for by the remainder of thc county at the next session of the General Assembly. Under thc old law, or custom, farmers were, at this season of the year, in the midst of a regular campaign of fence-making for protection pgainst the inroads of scattering squads of mischievous and almost worthless stock -building miles of fence to guard against a dozen or two head of cattlo that were scarcely worth their caro and feed in winter. With tho stock law in force, their attention and energy are directed to the better improve ment of the soil, thc early planting of cotton and corn and an occa sional "patch" of rice, while finer breeds of slock arc more in de mand. There is no doubt of the fact that tho stock law, and tho consequent saving in the expense of building and repairing fences, has infused considerable now lifo into the agricultural prospects of this and other counties where it is in operation.
