A medical poper thus enumerates tho fashionable modes of committing suicide. 1. Wearing of thin shoes and cotton stockings on damp nights and in oool, rainy weather. Wearing insufficient clothing, and especially upon tho limbs and extremities. 2. Loading a lifo of enfeebling, stupid laziness, and keeping tho mind lt) an un natural atato of excitement by reading troshy novels. Going to theaters, parties and balls in all sorts ol' weat bor in tho thin nest posaiblo dress. Dancing until in a completo perspiration, and then going homo without sufficient ovor-garmcnts through tho cool, damp night air. 3. Sleeping on loather bods in soven by niuo bedrooms, without ventilation nt tho top of tho windows, and especially with two or moro persons in tho sarao small unventilated bedroom. 4. Surfeiting on bot and very stimulat ing dinners. Fating in a hurry, without half masticating tho food, and eating heartily boforo going fobed, when tho mind and body aro exhausted by tho toils of the day and tho excitement of tho evening. f). Beginning in childhood on ton and coffee, arid going from ono step to another, through chowing and smoking tobnooo nnd drinking intoxicating hquoH, by physioal 6. Marrying io basto and getting an uncongenial compilion, nod living tho remainder of lifo in mental dissatisfaction; cultivating jealousies and domestic broils, aud beiug always in a montai fermont. 7. Ncgleoting to toko proper caro of oursolvcs, and not applying early for medi cal advice whoo discaso first appears; tak ing celebrated quack medicines to a degree of making a drug shop of tho body. Nearly all who havo attained to old ago havo boen remarka ble for temper, correct habits ol diet, drink and rest; for temperance, for cheerfulness and morality.
