Clover contains moro wotor than olhor grasses; consequently it is moro difficult to euro and fur tho sumo reason is moro difficult to koop, being Hablo to heat in tho mow. Tho natural grnssos whon cut for hay oro gonornlly spread and dried os rapidly us may bo in order to secure tho host result. This method, experience has proven, is not appli cable to tho clover crops. Clovor requires a longer timo to cure it properly, and ii exposed to tho scorching sun it is injured even moro than tho natani grasses, for its succulent leaves and tender blossoms are quickly browned nod loso their swootnoss. A plan vory generally adopted with clovor is to mow it in tho morning, let it lio in tho sunnfow hours, or when a wisp talton up and twisted will show no exudation cf moist ure, and thon throw it up in small cooks, la thoso cocks, if tho weather bo lino or they aro properly secured from rain, tho hay ro mains two or threo days whon it is stored, Another plan is to lay tho clovor upon beams in any opon building, where it receives tho freo action of tho air as soon ns it has wilted and so ouro it in tho abode. After a fow days it can bo paoked down without dan ger of tormenting. Whilo this plan of ouriug under shelter makes a most excellent quality of fragrant hay it is not largely adopted owing to tho amount of cover required for curing and tho extra labor of hauling tho grass whilo yet green. Still another method having a groat many adv?calos is hauling clover hay OB soon na wiltod and storing with salt. A layer of a foot or moro in thickness is laid down, on whioh salt is soattorcd, freely, thon comes another layer of hay, then of salt and so on until tho spaoo is filled. A rapid fcrmontn* tion ensues, tho hay boooming cured by tho boat of this fermentation and tho salt acting as a prcvontativo against petrifaction. In' place of salt, layers of wheat straw aro sumolimcs substituted. Tho greener tho clover tho thickor should bo tho lavor of straw, which ?els asan absorbont, and during tho process is itsolf increased in value as food, having received somo vi h nt of tho flavor and aro in a of the clover. lt should always bo borno in mind that ojovor, ns it lies pcnttored by tho mower, will bo grontly injured if tho dow ia allowed to fall upon lt. It ought also to bo rememborod timi clover hay will not Bued vain, and boneo when ? tuck ed out in tho hold it should bc protootod oitbor willi putout covers, thatching or a thick top covering of wheat straw, Ao. Not a few formers consider tho teddor neces sary In saving good clover hay, and while much so poi-mr clover hay ls tnn.de without it tho tedder is unquestionably of groot service. wwi.- ? ?rn i.i.i II 'i o. . .mrra TUTTIS PILLS!
