News from tiie Upper Missouri.? On the 4th inst. Messrn. Vnsquez and Danphin arrived in St. Louis from the Union Fur Company's post, nt Medicine Creek, 1400 miles up the Missouri river. ! and 44 miles below the. mouth of To ton ' river. They left on the 11th of March, and came down on Ihe Haydce. The weather had been very mild during the winter, and there was veiv little snow nn the plains, Buffalo were very plenty on both sides of the Missouri, as far down as the mouth of Whito river. The Sioux were busily engaged in killing these ani mals for their robes. In November last, Mr. Dauphin, with a party of men; was attacked while en-1 camped nt night, at the forks of Whito river, by a War party of Pawnees; .md was badly wounded and taken prisoner, but afterwards escaped. The attack was sudden and Mr. D's men deserted him. vlll his property fell into the hands of the Indians. yv party ot Sioux, while engaged in hunting buffalo on the Cheyenne river, in January last, were attacked by asupe- ' rior body of Crows, and a severe fight ensued. Eight warriors on each side wero killed, and the Sioux lost 150 head of horses. The Sioux had become greatly exasperated from this deleat, and were preparing to make war upon the Crows. The Yancton Sioux, also, were fitting out war parties against their old enemies, the Pawnees. It is feared that California emigrants, travelling on the north side of | the Platte, may suffer from the depreda e ii i" - > Mima oi muse nosuie panics. The Sioux ngent, Major Ilalton, was expected (o leave for St. Louis shortly. THie Union Fur Company would prob-1 ably send down 4000 packs of robes this spring. They had been very successful in their winter trade. ' Nciitii Carolina axd tknnrsfev.? 1 How little is known generally of the following detail of circumstances in the early history of these States. New Brunsunck wishing to be annexed. There was an important debute in the New Brunswick Colonial Parliament on the 5th instant, of the "state of the province," in the course of which Mr. End made a glowing picture of the desolation nnd ruin of the country, which he attributed to the Colonial policy of the mother country, nnd openly advocated annexation to the United States as the rerftVdy. He treats the "gngging despatch" of the Colonial Minister as a hoax. Tho St. John Morning News expres.-es the opin I ion thntn mftiniitv i\f ^nnnvnlinnli-to ..tin I .... Gradually, but not very slowly, the minds of the colonists are preparing for the event, which seems inevitable foreshndowed in the present discounted muttcrings. It is told of Char'cs Lvmb, that one afternoon having taking a seat in a crowded omnibus, a stout gentleman looked in and politely asked: 'All full inside?'
