Already through the smoke of legis lation and the noise of the conflict of opinion on various measures can be heard faint rumors of the composition of the State ticket. So far for Gov ernor Gens. Kennedy -nd Bratton are prominently spoken of, with hints of a dark horse. For secretary the pre sent incumbent will have the opposi tion of Col. J. N. Lipscomb, Capt. Dick Howard of Marion, and Capt. Rice of Barnwell. The names spoken of in connection with the office of at. torney-general are very numerous. Col. Ed. McCrady and Col. C. R Miles of Charleston, Col. J. C. Hask. ell of Richland. Col. J. R. Abney of Edgetield. Mr. Jas. Aldrich of Aiken, and Mr. Y. J. Pope of Newberry, are niost promineutly mentioned. There will, in all probability, be no opposition either to Col. 11 S. Thompson as superintendent of education, or Gen. Manigault as adjutant general, or Col. John P. Richardson as State treasurer. Capt. W. A. Stoney is very generally mentioned for comp. troller-general, and his ability and log experience in the office are used as strong arguments in his favor. le has made many friends, who will at the right time urge his claims to this position. Gen. Gray, of Greenville, is up to this time the only other name prominently spoken of in connection with this office. .MIarried. Dec. 20, 1881, by the Rev. T. C. Ligon, Mr. a J. R.
