A Visit
From an old former resident pleased
os a few days ago in the person of Mr.
J. F. Edrington, who moved from New
berry forty-six years ago. He is now
living in Texas, and although 66 years
of age, looks as vigorous and~ active as
a man of fifty. He left here on Mon
day.

A Correction.
In speaking of Mr. Jno. R. Spear
man's new cotton-the Jones' Improv
ed-last week, we made the mistake of
saying that Mr. Spearman made 37
bales last year on 19 acres. It was Mr.
Jones, of Troup County, Georgia, from
whom Mr. Spearman got the seed, that
made it: Mr. Spearman did not plant
any of the seed last year.

next Wednesday, the 14th, and it gives

Having experimented carefully with the
''HENDERSON"
Winter Oats, for four years past, I freely
recommend them to my parrons as the best
variety, especially for all the cotton grow
ing lands. When sown early in the fall,
(as they should he) they afford an excellent
pasure through the winter, and come to
maturity early enough to escape the rust,
as well se to be on hand when provender
with most Planters is scarce.
They grow kindly on ordinary soil, and
multiply (or "tiller"-as the rice planters call
it) often 40 stalks from 1 grain-as no other
oats ever do for me. One-half bushel to
the acre, regularly distributed, will make a
stand sunicienit for
60 TO 80) BU.SfELS TO THE ACRE ;
and the grain, instead of weighiing 82 lbs.,
as the standard of the State, will weigh 38
to 45 lbs. to tha bushel.
