Mrs. Rachel Stewart, of this Conny, died of Consumption at the home of her daughter in Franklin County, Georgia, the 26th ultimo. She went last No vember to visit her two sons in Ander son County, and after staying with them till March went to Georgia to visit her daughter. She left three sons and one daughter. There will be a Reunion of. the stu dents and ex-students of Newberry Col lege at Ninety-Six Thursday, the 12th instant. Riser, at Liberty Hall, was burned down Sat urday night, 7th inst., with its entire contents. -The fire occurred at 1 o'clock, and when discovered was so far ad vancedastorender the saving of anj of the stock impossible. Mr. Riser is not able to say whether the fire was aic cidental dr incendiary. There wasa little fire in the stove in the store Satur day evening; but the stove and piping were in good. order, and this circum st:mece, in connection with the fact thi the fire 'occurred so late in the night, g'ives strong probability to the theory of incendiary. This appearing tin your columns in addition to a report -which has been circulated to the effet that we wished to be known as a team from Newberry village, is calculated to leave an erroneous and unjust impres sion concerning us on the minds of Smany, if left uncorrected. Why we were reported as the "Newberry Team" we will give the facts: In less than two hours after our arrival at iHender sonville, pools were sold on us as New Sberry Team. Only one of our memi bers wras present at the time, and he asked that the name be changed to -Enoree; but some of the pools having already been sold, and there being no ,other team from the county, it was re B fused. The next morning when enter ) ing the team on the field our Captain ,again asked that the corr.ection he I made.
