Beautiful are hilis and meadows. vineyards and orebards, gardens and grain fields, under the giorie of the July sun-sweet the odor of flowers and the songs of birds -soft and low the murmur of streams, and musical the tinkle of bells away on the misty hills beautiful the summer night when the moon-beams have turned cedar and pine into columns of silver aid filled the shadowed earth with ghostly pictures-the balmy air is heavy with the perfume of flowers, and filled with the hum of insets-the plaintive notes of. the birds of the night are heard in the shadowy woodlands. and the voice of the cattle com's up from the emerald valleys down by the waters. Surely a farm in ibe country in .summer, ornamented with flowering trees rieb in many fruits, beautified by the gorgeous plants of the isles of the sea, and animated everywhere by the no blest races of domestie animals and birds is a lovely picture.
