ed in the battle of the Wilderness on

IMUIomAL lAY .-Last Wednesday
the beautiful custom of decoratng the
fraves of our dead soldiers was observ
d in place. At I o'c.. in the af
ternoon, the procession marched froimi
Temperance Hall to the village grave
ysrd in the following order: First. the
ministers; next, the ladies: then the
crentlemen. and after these came the
carria-es, constituting a ]l( aid hand
some line. Having arrived at the
rMVeyard. prayer was o5'red by Rev.
t;Manning Brown, and the graves were
strewn with flowers. The procession
then moved to Rosemont Cemetery,
I where prayer was offered by Rev. R. A.
Mickle, and the graves committed to
the ladies. A cross had been erected
there, and on it inscribed, "In memorv
of our absent dead," whielb doubtless
brotght to niemiory the images Of pa
. triot friends and relations, whose bodies
repoIsedl on foeign soil, where they died
for their country's sake. It was deco
rated with flowers atnd evergreens. The
oraves of Federal soldiers also received
atttentin that dayv. This was a sad andl(
imlpressive, and yet an interesting oe
e asion. Let our deatd soldiers ntever he
