A Fair Dentist. Yesterday, in Philadelphia, a woman graduated in dental sur gery, and received her diploma. She isa widow now, but we pre die hft she will not remain in thafunsatisfactory state bat a very short time. The advent of this female den tist into the profession, will cre ate-a sensation in Philadelphia. Her rooms will be crowded "from early morn to dewy eve." Every young fellow in the "City of B therly Love" will have the toothache, and we question if the widow can l a tithe of the cari ous teeth that will be offered for her inspection. It is absolutely indispensable to a successful oper ation that the dentist's left arm encircle the neck of the patient; sad Oh I how patient the young men and the widowers who pa tronize the fair dentist will be. Of course, two-thirds of the geatlemen of dilapidated mouths, *iii faint just as soon > as the doe tor exhibits -her instruments; and t wil-4ever do to permit them- to fall headlong to the floor; some body must avert the catastrophe &t we donetprotend to say the widow would do it. Now, who wou!d not have the toothache (just the least bit in the world), if he could be operated on by a female dentist? Nice, isn't it? to enjoy the.luxury of having your teeth filled (in imagination) by the hand of woman ? 'Young man, picture to yourself a neat little sign banging out on Market-street, in Wilinington, con taining the following: . yMiss Anesthetic Amalgam, D. Wouldn't that be glorious? A FEABFUL RIDE.-Inl New -York, on Thursday last, two boys mounted the cow-catcher to a lo amntv standi'ng on the track of the Hudson, River railroad;, sup posing* the engine - would move only, a few - blocks. The engine was ordered to Poughkeepsie, and did not stop until it reached Peek skill. The boys had hung to 'the iron bars, screaming for help, but as they were hidden by the smoke stack the engineer did not per ceive them. At Peekskill both were discovered, but so overcome with fright that neither could walk. A VALUABLE DIseOVERY.-AC cording to the Spectator, a treas 'ure of priceless value has been found among the stores of the India. House. Oriental scholars 11l over the world will find their blood quicken at the news that Abe library of Timour, collected in the course of his conquests, has been discovered~.
