"Let Their-Foes Beware. There is a sheet ~published in Charlston, and edited by R. I.I. Cain, the negro "Senator" from Charleston. It professes to be a religious paper, and is called the Missionary Record. It may be pious,,.but it is the piety of the devil. Its mendacity is only ex gelled by its insolence. - Alluding to the affair in which young Smith was killed; it boldly charges that-it was instigated by this jogrnal and the Democrats, with the desire to begin a war of " races.. We give an extract from this fiolent war-like article. Let the colored people observe how this false teacher, like Cain of old, would kill his brother, by produ cing a collision of races. What madness---tbat the colored man, in -is weakness, should be called upon to court an issue fatal to hl iaterests 1 But read what the reverend "Benator" and editor has to say : "eIs bas been instigated by the Columbia Phenix, and e u c h papers, and by the Democrats, so that they may have it to say that th wauof races has legan. One old rman took the fatal step because he had caught cold and was afraid it might settle on his A new method of dressing wounds has recently been adopted in Belgiun. A sheet of lead one fifteenth of an inch thick is applied to the injured limb, and inade by pressure to assume its shape. The lead is firmly secured by means of strips of adhesive plaster, and a current of fresh water is made to pass over the surfiace of the flesh once or twice a day. Out of one t hundred and seventy-nine patients I treated for workshop or railway accidents at the municipal hospital of Ghent, one hundred and sixty five were discharged cured. The t average duration of the treatment was thirty-one days. Of the fom - teen who died the greatest number were mortally injured by .the ac cident. SAD DEATH.-We regret to chronicle the unexpected death of Mrs. Harper, the young and beloved wife of Rev.. I Robert Harper, pastor ' of the Methodist Church, at this place.
