We like this system of Agrieul
ture ; our people must no longer
trust to making money out of one
leading staple ; they must pay
their attention to diversity ofecrops,
and make each contribute its quota
to the profits of the year. Tbis

While on this subject, we notice
on the part of our most intelligent
land owners, a disposition to sub
stitute small forces of white men,
for the large gangs of colored
laborers they have bheretofore em
ployed. We have heard of several.
who have sent on orde'rs to Gene
ral Wagener, State Commissioner
of Immigration, for whbite laborers,
from the number who are now ex
pected in a few days from Ger
many by sailing vessel direct to
Charleston. It would he well for'
our people to give this subject duo
consideration, in time to make
their arrangements for the coming
