C., in the year 1S33 and ! died in the city of Laurens, S. C., May 11)12. He was a life long member of Mfc. Hermon Lutheran church, Peak, an 1 was a conscientious christian from his early life until his death. He served his state four years in the War between the Sections in the 13th | Regiment, Company H , under General Jackson iu the Valley of Virginia. He received a wound in the. arm at the second battle of Mmassas and another in the leg at the battle of the Wilderness, which retired him from active service in the war. He was a member for forty years, Past Master of Pomaria Lodge No. 151 A. F. M. One time in the history of the Lodge when it was in a distressed condition he defrayed the expenses of the Lodge himself. He was always a regular attendant npon every communication. Even the last ten years while living in Laurens, about fifty miles away from his Lodge, he was seldom missed from his post of duty.
