Ethel Love, a n egrets, her stia and twQ daughters, were killed one night last week, in their cabin near Beaumont, Texas, the seventh of a series of similar crimes which hare occurred within several months in Southwestern Louisiana and Southeastern Tex as, and in which the number of persons killed now total 29. In each instance the slayer, believed to be the same persoD, battered the heads of his victims with an axe as they slept. Inyariably the werfpon used has been left near the bodies, but no ' other evidence has been found which might lead to an arrest. As a rule, the negroes killed are obscure residents of small settlements and no i motive can be assigned. The first occurrence was at Rayne, La., when a mother and four children were killed. At LaFayette the yictims number four, next came Crowley, La., with a family, consisting of father, mother and one child. LaFayette was then next with another family of four; then at Crowley a woman and herthree children were killed on January 18. On January 21 a family of five was murdered at Lake Charles. Mann Hamilton, a negro, identified by hi? rictim as the man who attacked her laat Wednesday at her home near Starksrille, Miss., and after clubbing fcer about the head with an iron bar threw her into a well, was hanged by mob near Staxksville, late Thursday.
