"Still Water* Site ]
Selected lor Bridge.
The County Board of Commissioners
on Monday decided that *'Still
Water" is the nroner location for the
new sreel bridge to be erected over the '
Saluda river. The action of the board ?
was unanimous, this decision having '
been reached after giving the mat er t
long and careful consideration.
When the bocrd met on September '
15th bids were opened for the con
struction of the bridge, seyeral bridge
companies having represent itives j
present, all of whom had figured ou t
the two propositions?Amick's Ferry
and "Still Water''?and all of whom
submitted plans and bids for the two
sites.
The several bids and plans were considered
on Monday. Having decided
that "Still Water" was the better lo- ,
cation, the board agreed upon Plan .

being $9,026.00. The plan selected ?
represents a single span structure, j
i with two piers, one near each edge of

This was not the case at
Amick's, it being understood that the . /
land there would have to be condemned
and paid for. Besides, there
was a difference in cost of construction
of $7,000 for the same identical ^
bridge, thi9 difference being in favor
. of "Still Water." tl
The preliminary plans have only r(
been gone over, however, and it may .
be several months before the actual ^
work of construction is commenced. ^
