There ia going to be a big cotton crop this year unless something wholly unforeseen happens. No doubt about it. There is little doubt, either, that the crop will not be as big as the Government figures have been indicating. In the last week or so theie has been a marked decline in the prospects in various sections. There is no need to get excited and conclude that 44 the bottom is going to drop out of prices.'' Prices will undoubtedly be * - i -i ?_ 1 i. lower man ior last year*a crop; out u tlie farmers use plain business judgment in marketing, there need be no wholesale slump. Of course, there is a lot of cotton that will be forced on the market as soon as it is ginned; but if the growers who do not have to sell will only sit steady and refuse to 8811 on a falling market, prices can be held at a renumerafcive figure. November and December futures are now bringing a little lover 11 cents. Now, 11 cents is low enough?even if the crop proves to be as large as i9 expected, it should certainly be the minimum. We do not believe that 12 cent9 would be an unreasonable price to stand for; bat whatever the price, cotton growers should agree^ upon some priceand demand it. If they do, they can at least get a reasonable price; if they do not, the market is likely to go to pieces and the large cotton crop will actually bring less than would a small one. $100 REWARD, $100. The readers of this paper will be pleased to learn that there is at least one dreaded disease that science has been able to cure in all its stages, ai d that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Cure is the only positive cure now known to i tjie mediCal fraternity. Catarrh being a. constitutional disease, requires a con stitutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh Care is taken internally, acting directly upon the blood and mucous surfaces of the system, thereoy destroying the foundation of the disease, and giving the patient strength by building up the constitution and assisting nature in doing its work. The proprietors have so much faith in its curative powers that they cff6r One Hundred Dollars for any case that it fails to cure. Send for list of testimonial. / Address: F. J. One.of the almost invariable symptoms of softening of the brain, such as in aged persons is called senile dementia, is a telling of distrust and resentment toward those who should be nearest and dearest and a corresponding tendency to make friends and confidents of comp irafcive strangers. I sometimes think that a great many jot us must be sufferers from this distressing malady in its incipient stages, when I realize howjmany are less eonf.Vift ffipllTlffS Of thOS6 Who KUV ..v?-0. r are nearest and dearest than we are of persons who really have little claim upon us. How many men exercise commendable self-control all day in dealing with the many little annoyances in the store or the office and then go home and stir np a small imitation of Hades because some little thing goes wrong? How many merchants treat a disagreeable woman customer with a great deal more forbearance and fhfln t^pv nhnw to their OULISiUCi at iu" v _ .. own wife? Ifc is good business to be pleasant to a disagreeable customer, but isn't it more important than business to overlook some possible shortcomings on the part of the wife? Why do we forbear mentioning our neuralgia to the evening caller and then make it a topic of conversation for the family at the dinner table? Is it not true that we often show greater courtesy to a chance acquainta nee than to the members of our own family? . t a shorv the other day that il- j lustrates just this point so perfectly that I am going to repeat it: "John, our maid is going to leave us," said a wife.
