Nesbit. I HJncle Jim" Lowman I Has Passed Away. Hi 'Uncle Jim" Lowman is no more. Uk last Wednesday afternoon as the m was sinking behind the western ^H)rizon the spirit of this faithful old ^Krkey took its flight and went to ^Rorlds unknown. "Uncle Jim," as ^ e was familiarly known to everybody this community, had lived to reach ^Bhe age of about 100 years. He had JBeen a resident of this town for all ^Khese years and was respected and Hionored by both races, Up to a year or two ago "Uncle Jim" was able to hobble around on bhe streets and, although bent with Hthe age of yeare, his mind was clear, Hand he could recite interestingly many of the incidents of the long ago. "Uncle Jim,, remembered well the comet of 75 years ago, and during the comet which appeared a few months ago when nearly everyone became frightened, "Uncle Jim" was unafraid, for he had seen the same comet be fore. ? I Faithful to every trust in times of I war as well as in times of peace, I "Uncle Jim" won the confidence and I high esteem of his masters. By hard I work, industry and perseverance, he I ? wrr.rr.nl a KoH BflTTlfi DrODertV itt the f limits cf the town and from the proL seeds. of this he managed to live comfortably in his latter days. He c wned I i the little home in which he lived and i this he leaves to his aged wife, who is now on the brink of the grave. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, both of whom reside in the city of Baltimore. His remains were laid to rest in Bethel churchyard on Friday morning at 11 o'clock in the presence of one of the largest gatherings of colored peopie ever seen in this town. His life should be an inspiration to the colored race, for from beginning to end, it was exemplary and honorable. f 1 # 1 New Methodist Church.
