After a chase in two States and lasting
more than a week, Howard Harris,
who attempted, it i9 charged, to
criminally assault young Mrs. Dutton
at her home near Thomasville, Ga.,

Florida, at Tallahassee. Fearing a
lynching would be attempted if the
negro was kept at Tallahassee, he
quietly slipped away ard took the
prisoner to Live Oak. The chase for
the negro went on more than a week
night and day, and was led through
swamps principally.

A Mighty Trout.
Mr. E. Austin Roof, the popular,
faithful and ever efficient mail carrier
on route ,?>, wears the belt for beI
ing the best fisherman in the county.
Everybody knows that Austin is a
good fisherman, because he has the
patience of the job; but 110 one knew
that he could "tote" the mail and
fish at the same time. It happened
this way: Austin's route goes right
j by Mr. Paul Clarke's pond, and that
| gentleman is somewhat of a fisherman
himself. One day last week Mr.
Clarke had sonic hook3 setting along
the edge of the pond for^trout, and
when Mr. Roof came along he saw a
mighty fish grab one of the hooks and
make away across the pond. Seeing
that the fish was getting off at a rapid
gait, Austin lost no time in alighting
from his buggy, and going in pursnit.
Tne fish was finally overtaken?and
brought to the bank after a brief
struggle. It was a large trout, weighing
12,1'o pounds. Austin made his
trip on schedule time, bringing the
fish to town with him.
