Envy is the tribute that mediocrity pays to ability. A bore is a man who insists upon talking about the north pole when you want to talk about the tariff. The best strikebreaker is arbitration. Some of these days organized labor ; will realize that ignorauce has cost it more than the oppression of capital. j Flattery is the food that fools fatten upon. The pathway is never dark to the traveler who goes fcrsh with a heart full of hope. It isn't charity to give unless the giving entail9 a little bit of sacrifice. A Wretched Mistake to endure the itching, painful distress of Piles. There's no need to. Listen: 4'I suffered much from Piles," writes Will. A. Marsh, of Siler City, N. The trial and conviction of "Coot" Lever, the negro would-be rapist, in the Lexington court last week should cause a more healthy sentiment in favor of letting the law take its course in cases of this kind not only through- ; out Lexington, but all over the country. And it will. It show3 conclusively that the law is sufficient for any emergency when allowed to pursue its proper course. Lever will be legally put to death by the sheriff on the 25th of February. All this stuff about juries failing to convict in cases of this character is all bosh. If a jury fails to do its duty then it is time for the people to take the law in their own hands and see that the culprits are properly dealt with. There is nothing to be gained by mob law, even under the most extreme circumstances. Lexington county i9 to be congratulated that none of her citizens have the blood of "Coot" Lever on their hands. The husband of the intended victim is to be congratulated for the manly stand he took throughout the trial of the case. He has set an example for others to follow, and oae that will win for him the respect and admiration of law-abiding people everywhere. op B ui xciy (s y k say $1 SIZE BOTTLES 50c Your Druggist can get it for you from COLUMBIA, S.
