A Covsy of Guinca-Fo^ls Come
to G-rief for Quacking
"Contracts."
A farmer near Central sold his cotton
for 12c. on contract. When it
reached loc. he became morose and
absent-minded, pondering over his
short crop and that 3c. difference. He
had a covey of guinea-hens and one
fine morning they were unusually
noisy with their "pot rack, pot rack."
Such a clangor of sounds in such close
imitation of the hideous "contracts"
was more than the troubled man could
bear. He got his gun and banged
away, saying "Take that, you,
I've had enough contracts."?Farm
and Factory. '
EVER HAVE ST?
If You Have, the Statement of
This Lezington Citizen Will
Interest You.
Ever have a "low-down" pain in
the back?
In the "small," right over the hips?
That'^the home of backache.
It's caused by sick kidneys.
That's why Doan's Kidney Pills
cure it.
Lexington people endorse this Read
a case of it:
C. A. Geiger, Depot St., Lexington.
S. 0., says: "For several months I
suffered from dull pains across the
small of my back and as they did not
disappear, I came to the conclusion
that my kidneys were disordered. At
night after lying down my back pained
me intensely and I also noticed an
irregularity in the passages of the
kidney secretions. I was feeling miserable
when I procured Doan's Kidney
Pills at The Kaufmann Drug Co, I
used them as directed and they proved
to be the remedy I needed. They
have helped me so much already that
I feel I will soon be entirely well and
it gives me pleasure to recommend
Doan's Kidney Pills to other sufferers."

Braddy, Inventor, Fell Dead.
M. Braddv, proprietor of the Union

fell dead shortly before noon last
Thursday, while discussing the manufacture
of a stencil that had ju9t been
made, with R. Leon Hill, in the office
of the Columbia Seal and Printing

While talking to Mr. Hill, with no
warning, Mr. Braddy fell upon his
face on the floor. He was pronounced
quite dead when a physician arrived.
Death is attributed to heart failure.
His widow and several children survive.

Buying Votes With Goats. 1
New York Sun.
Billygoats don't win elections in
Newberry county, South Carolina.
This was conclusively proved in the
recent municipal election in Newbervxr
\rh,>n Ax-Stafce Senator Cole L.
Blease defeated Julias Langford,
known far and wide a9 "Juice7' Langford,
fdr the mayorality of Newberry.
Langford, in order to hold the friendship
of certain of the voting employees
of the Molohon Cotton Mill9, presented
the children of those operatives
with seventy goats of the wagonpulling
variety.
When the votes were counted election
night it was found tjiat Blease
had won the city by a substantial ma-jority.
As soon as the result became
known Blease's friends among the
Molohon operatives got up a torchlight
parade and marched through the
city singing the following:
Coley Blease is in the council rooms
I a'countmg up his votes,
Juice Langford's in the Mollohon
a'gathering up his goats.
