By an act of the last legislature, appropriating $20,000 to rural schools, any free public school complying with the regulations adopted by the State Board of Education,'can obtain aid in double th? amount raised by the patrons and friends of said school. I would be giad to give all information possible ior the purpose of enabling schools in the extension of their terms. Under the regulations above mentioned, the term of the school applying for aid should not cover a period of 100 days, the funds of the district should have been expended for teaching and the teacher should hold a registered certificate. Besides, it is necessary that the patrons and friends should raise a sum of money not to exceed fifty dollars and deposit the ?iJ-V. nnnnttr t TCJ n <an 7"PT"_ | S3.UJ.fcJ W1 til 1/tiC V/UUIIUJ When this is done all other essential matters can be attended to by the county superintendent, and if the act and regulations can possibly be complied with the school should get help. It is my earnest desire that all schools needing this aid should become interested in this splendid op- | portunity to better themselves and I shall do my part in the premises. In connection with this I am glad to say that the Rural School Improve- I ment Association again offers thirtyfive prizes to the schools of the State, and it would be indicative of advancel ment and better ideas in educationamatters should the schools of our county get their share of them. Two were won by schools in this county last year and this must be bettered this year. All schools entering the contest should communicate with Miss Theodosia Dargan, Dalzell* S. C., for blanks and information. Respectfully, A. D. Martin, County Superintendent Education. B. W. Proctor In The Tolls. E. W.
