Prohibitionists Active. The prohibitionists are active. A meeting was held in Columbia last week at which time it was decided to make a vigorous light for the passage of a State-wide prohibition law by the next legislature. After the meeting the Rev. J. L. Harle}*, State president of the Anti-Salcon League, gave out the following statement to a representative of The State: ''The situation was discussed lu ly and the prohibitionists' plan in the future was outlined. The decision was reached that the time lias come for ! State-vide prohibition. To this end a committee consisting of 31. L. j Smith, member of the house from ! 6 Kershaw; J. C. Otts, senator from. ! Cherokee; C. A. Smdth. represent?..- | live from Florence, and'John G. Richards, Jr., member of the Lor.se from Kershaw, was appointed to draft a prohibition bill to bo presented at the coming session of the legislature. The bill will be presented in the senb. 1 ate and in the house. This bill is not the bill of these men named ncr any one of them, but comes from the prohibitionists of the State.. After disw cussing the plans of the prohibitionists in executive session it was not deemed wise to hold an open session Friday and the convention adjourned sine die An organization will be perfected in every county in the State to help carry out the plans of the con|. vention." This is .the result of .six months' work on the Ohio Anti-Saloon league since the Rose comity option law went into effect. Of the 55 connties, five went dry under an old law. Aa little progress was made under that law, it was displaced by the new law, which has been successful. Voting will be held in most of the remaining 26 counties with the next few months. In point of population the State is nearly half dry, now, and in point of area, two-thirds. Most of the dry counties do not contain large cities. So far about 1,730 saloons have been voted out, about one-third of the number in the State before the county option voting began. Guilty of Counterfeiting. Passing counterfeit money is no worse than substituting some unknown worthless remedy for Foley's Honey and Tar, the great cough and cold remedy that cores the most obstinate coughs and heals the longs.
