To the Editor of The Dispatch: A more beautiful fall the writer has never seen; but dreary December, with his piercing bleak winds is here and we begin to shiver. The crops are harvested and a fairly good yield has been realized. The 9weet potato crop is unusually good, but we hear much complaint of them not keeping so well. The Editor, in company with Treasurer Shealy, passed through recently collecting and taking subscriptions, looking bright and hopeful as well as cheerful. We hope he met with an abundance of success. The little ones are counting the days and looking forward with anxious hearts and eager expectation the welcome arrival of old Nick. We hope their little hearts will not feel the sting of sad disappointment. G. T. and Harry Goodwin, formerly of this place bat now holding a position with the Seaboard, visited their parents Sunday. A great deal of wheat and oats have been sown this fall. That is right, brother termers; let ns lay in a good acreage Of home supplies, plant less cotton, demand our prices and live at home. Mrs. P. T. Fallaw, who has been despeiately ill, is able to be out. John J. Laird, one of Lexington county's oldest citizens, was buried on the 5th. C. S. Goodwin, one of Gaston's leadBog merchants, with E. L. Pound and Fred Lucas, went on a fox-hunt recently and after a long chase captured a large red. Goodwin says he has been running this same fox for three years. The hide has been stuffed and is on exhibition at C. S. Goodwin's store. W,M T fha nharminor dftflffhtGr JIliBD 1A/UU1C) luv vuu?u....D ? 0 of N. H. Driggers, of Columbia, has been visiting relatives and friends around here. We are glad that Prof. Smith and family are improving after eevere cases of fever. The happiest patron on route one, is John A. Robust. "Good morning, Mr. Robust." "It's another big girl." "Here's your mail." "The girl and her mother are doing well."
