The people of Greenwood were evidently pleased with Congressman Lever, who spoke to two thousand of them at their county fair several weeks ago, if they are to be judged by the comments of the newspapers of that county. The following is a part of an editorial from the Greenwood Index: "The people of the south have had many able leaders. But we need more practical leaders of indusirialt hough a If every county in the sodth had a Lever, we would be a better paid people, for our labors would have their just recompense. And the time is coming. The people are not fools and they will see the truth of the doctrine of diversification and self help. We are not prone to make promises or dream dreams of the future. But in the near future we expect to see the farmers of the south take up the slogan: "Live at home" and when they do the south will blossom a9 never before and our people will be independent and happy. Raise your own food. The world will give you a fair price for its raiment and the south will take its proper place in the family of sections. At present we are out of toutch. We were the leaders once and by the application of common sense and the abolition of false prophets we will come back to our position of prominece and power. God speed the day."
