JJjilSCL"- -Mrs* Ladey want^ to know if there were any.. surT. vivors of this "company who would like to have the flag. Upon inquiry Mr. Leaphaft learned tliat Col. M. D. Harman andLMr. G. ,M. ISarman had been members of this company and 1 that there were several of the suryivi ors still living in and around Lexing| ton. The Saluda Guards was a company organized at Old Saluda Factory and commanded by Capt. Moultry Gibbs, of Columbia." This company was ? raised in answer to the first call of Gov. Pickens for troops to take Fort Sumter. Col. Harman wrote a letter to Mrs. Lacey informing her that several of the survivors were still living and that they would be very glad to have the flag. Mrs. Lacey sent tne nag at once and it is now in the possession of Col. Harman. Mrs. Lacey stated that the flag came intQ her possession through her brother, who was in Kiipatrick's Cavalry with Sherman's army and that he took the flag while passing through here. The flag is tattered and torn, also burned as if it had been in a fire while r in the possession of this Federal soldier. __ Zyzer-SoatOTight.
