that. This is crnde talk, but it is demanded
by the situation. Every bit
of drinking and cooking water has
to be purchased or treasured from the

has been but one rain since the freshet

The pressure in the mains is practically

Because you have contracted ordinarycolds
and recovered from them without
treatment of any kind, do not for a moment
imagine that colds are not dangerous.
Everyone knows that pneumonia
and chronic catarrh have their
origin in a common cold. Consumption
is not caused by a cold but the cold prepares
the system for the reception and
development of the germs that would
not otherwise have found lodgment.
It is the same with infectious diseases.
Diphtheria, scarlet fever, measles and
whooping cough are much more likely
to be contracted when the child has a
cold. You will see from this that more
real danger lurks in a cold than in any
other of the common ailments. The
easiest and quickest way to cure a cold
is to take Chamberlain's Cough Remdy.
The mauy remarkable cures effected
by this preparation have; made it a
staple article of trade over a large part

Good Meeting' at Good Hope.
New Hope church had gone down
spiritually and financially and the
house needed repairing. The pastor,
Rev. T. J. Cupstid, a young man full
of grace and grit went to work with
the members and soon the house was
repaired. Brother Dafle Yonce, the
chairman of the committee, showed
hi9 faith by his work, and everything
was in readiness for the Union meeting
the fifth Sunday in August.
After the Union the protracted
meeting began,*-which continued four
days. Rev. Wood Corder, of the Aiken
association, did the preaching,
'n&nd large crowds attended the services.
Rev. Corder preached with
mnoh earnestness and eicrht members
were added to the church.
The church seems to be united,
very much revived and ready for better
work. R. J. Faliaw.

Mrs. Ada L. Croom, the widely known
proprietor of the Croom Hotel, Vaughn,
Miss., says: "For several months I suffered
with a severe cough, and consumption
seemed to have its grip on me,
when a friend recommended Dr. King's
New Discovery. I began taking it, and
three bottles affected a complete cure."
The fame of this life saving cough and

is world wide. Sold at Kaufmann Drug

known to grocer's everywhere as
Dr. Shoop's Health Coffee, will trick
even a coffee expert. Not a grain of
real coffee in it either. Pure healthful
toasted grains, malt, nuts, etc., have
been so cleverly blended as to give a
wonderfully satisfying coffee taste and
flavor. And it is "made in a minute,"
too! No tedious 20 to 30 minutes boiling.
