Teacher Indicted.
The Pickens county grand jury has
found a true bill against Miss Oline
B. Newton, the young lady school
teacher charged with cruelly whipping
one of her pupils. The case ha?
already caused a sensation in the
town of Pickens and the people of the
county are awaiting the final outcome
with much interest, as the young ludv
in question, stands very high in the
estimation of the best classes of people
both in Pickens and throughout
the county.
$10,000 Stolen by Bobbers.
The bank of Farland, at Fairland,
Okla., was entered by robbers and
$10,000 including the postoffice receipts
was secured. Three men composed
the gang. They rode into town
on horse back, tied their horses near
the bank building and after getting
the money mounted and rode away
in safety. Officers are in pursuit.

Darlington, was painfully injured by
the explosion of a lamp on his automobile.
Both eyes were badly injured.
The president has made a recess appointment,
naming Thomas Hester to
be postmaster at Gaffney, vice A. R.
N. Folger, whose commission expired
early in the session of congress that
has just ended. Hester was appointed
some time ago, but he was not
confirmed because of a diyision of sentiment
among the patrons of the
Gaffney postoffice.
A mail who is in perfect health, so

be thankful. Mr. L. C. Rodgers, of
Branchton, Pa., writes that he was not
only unable to work, but he couldn't
stoop over to tie his own shoes. Six

Theodore Price Indicted.
i Theodore H. Price, for many years j

on the New York cotton market, has
been indicted by the federal grand
jury on charges growing out of the
? sensational exposure of the sale of
povernment statistics as to cotton
> crop conditions in advance of the issuance
of this information to the
> public.

pected by Mr. Price and he, and his
; attorneys, were at the federal building
when the grand jury's report was
[ presented, in readiness to give bail.
Mr. Price is charged with conspiracy
to defraud. He was released in
$1C,000 bail.
