Mrs. Amanda Derrick, widow of
the late Abner Derrick, died suddenly
at her home in Lexington yesterday,
morning, after an illness of 18 hours
with accute indigestion.
Mrs. Derrick was about 60 years old
and leaves six children, three boys
and three girls, all grown, besides a
host of other relatives and friends to
mourn her death.
She was in many respects a most
estimable woman?a good neighbor,
kind friend and true Christian. She
will be buried in the city cemetery
this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. W.
L. Keel will conduct the last sad
rites. ,

There was a. double, marriage at
Gilbert this morning the contracting
parties being Mr. Qharlie G. Mooneyhan
and Mrs. Essie Drafts, and Mr.
John Tallon and Miss Frances Lindler.
Messrs. Mooneyhan and Tallon
are both prosperous young farmers of
Bishopville, Lee county, and the
brides are daughters of Prof, and Mrs.
S. S. Lindler, of Gilbert. Rev. B. D.
Wessinger, officiating.

Mr. Ben David, proprietor of the
Parlor Restaurant in Colombia, and
Mrs. Larson, for several years bookkeeper
for her brother, Mr. J. Wilson
Gibbs, were quietly married in that
city last Thursday. Mr. David i9 one
of the most widely known iqen in the
State and is universally popular.
Mrs. David also has a wide circle of
friepds and is extremely popular with
her acquaintances. :
