Governor Ansel yesterday grantee
the amendment to the petition allow
ing the surveyors of the Calhoui
county scheme to change their lines
so as to avoid violating the law. The
shrveyors will now proceed to complete
their work accordingly, aftei
which, we presume,, the election wil
be ordered and we trust the question
may be definitely settled.
So far aS Lexington comity is concerned,
we have endeavored to discuss
the matter unbiased and without
prejudice to enlighten the people oi
that section which it proposes to $ake
from our county. It is for them to
decide, and while we still contend, in
the end> they will not better then
condition by leaving Lexington, and
we will certainly regret to lose theii
good citizenship and the fine terri1
tory. Therefore, We hope they will
Efe never decide to leave us, but use theix
(better judgment and allow their bones
to bleach in old Lexington comity.
We regret that oar assistant editor
Mr. D.R. Haltiwangeris still confined
to his bed with fever, which not only
necessitates our doing double duty,
bat his long suffering worries his
family and ourselves, and we honestly
pray and hope to see him rapidly
improving to his once robust health
again. His ancle, Dr. W. L. Kneece,
of Baxter, came down to see him
Sunday in con saltation with Dr.
Derrick, his family physician, and
while he may not be dangerously ill,
yet he is certainly a sick man.

In this issue of the Dispatch Dr.

sanitary regulations that should have
due consideration at the hands of our
people. Lexington is not generally
I sickly, but one of the healthiest
\ places yon can find, but these remedies
would prevent any future trouble
^ and save many doctor bills.

The annual session of the Lexing*

after an intresting meeting of three
days. All the visiting brethren speak
in the highest praise of the people oi
Brookland, and will .be glad to visit
