"Everything seems to tend toward prohibition in South Carolina and it is quite probable that the issue in the next campaign in the State will hinge on this point," said Senator Tillman j in an interview here today. | "The trouble in soutn uaronna is the county boards of dispensaries and sooner or later it must change." Discussing the national political question he said: "We are the poor man at the frolic and they are not giving us much attention. They intend to beat us in the next race and g will probably do it on account of the great prosperity existing all over the country. I have just been in the north and northwest and they have so much money there the banks are overflowing. Big crops and big prices i for years have left their mark there. ^ But we are just as prosperous and full : of life as they are anywhere in the country. I tell them everywhere that the goose is hanging just as high in Georgia and South Carolina as it is in Wall street or anywhere else north or west. "I don't think there will be any trouble about the future financial conditions of the countrj' for we have too much of everything the world needs to worry about any money matters. We can just sit steady in the boat and sail on. "Pve just come in from New York and the whole business world there * ? * have their eyes centered on tne soutn i and we are coming to the front, poli- I tics or no politics. "I am going out west from here and will visit all the Pacific slope country before I come back." Mr. Tillman is accompanied by his wife today and they have many friends in Augusta who are always glad to welcome them to the city.?
