The Gaffney Ledger says "if Senator Tillman has ever done anything that would benefit the people of South Carolina; has advocated a measure that was for their good morally or socially; has ever done aught but misrepresent his section in order that ' _ _i?j__ I j ne mignt nil ms pocKets wun goia, we have been unable to discover it." How about the navy yard in Charleston? The most bitter opponents of the senator in Charleston concede that he is entitled to the credit for getting that magnificent public improvement for the State. We are sure it is worth a great deal to Charleston as well a9 the whole State. How about Clemson College and Winthrop College? Both of these grand institutions for the education of our boys and girls are the result of the movement led by the senator. We are sure they are for the good of the people socially and morally. There is no doubt but that Senator Tillman is entitled to the credit for these two grand institutions. How about the money Senator Tilltyior-i uqxtd^ QnnfVt P.a-rnlina. in apt,t,liner .LUU14 OU,,V? """"" accounts with the United States, amounting to over three hundred thousand dollars. This might not be of much benefit to the people socially or morally, but it helped them out no little financially. In this transaction Senator Tillman saved over three hundred thousand dollars to South Carolina. We could go on and enumerate many other good things that Senator Tillman has done for South Carolina, but what is the use. It would not convince those who hate the senator that he has really been a very useful man to South Carolina and the south in the senate. The time will come when Senator Tillman will be given credit for what he has done for his State and section. Then he will rank among tbe ablest men that the south sent to the United States senate.?Orangeburg Times and Democrat. There were about two hundred people present and all had a delightful outing. The ladies had prepared excellent baskets for the o?casion. A number of young men came from St. Matthews, supposedly to speak in the interest of the new county, but the crowd was not a new county one, and it didn't take them long to realize this fact, hence, they did not speak. Mr. Jimmie Wise spoke against the new county and impressed his hearers favorably with his sound argument against the proposition. Mr. Wise is a very young man, but he is a most excellent speaker. The majority of the voters in thfs section will vote against leaving old Lexington when the time comes to vote. A large number of ladies were present which lent pleasure to the day. *P tif ?> Wrrn/'l ?JX KJ J\ 11 UJ cu \J 111. July 6, 1907. CATAEEH and Catarrhal Headaches are quickly relieved by Nosena. If the dispensary under the management of state officers was corrupt, and everybody in the State who can read, must at least believe it was, what reason is there for believing or even hoping that the county manage ment will be any better, if as good? The avenues for graft or unlawful gain have been increased an hundred fold, and all the men who are managing this demon are merely ordinary human beings, and subject to all the temptations that can be presented by whiskey dealers all over the country. There is but one way to handle whiskey that will meet the approval of the Christian people of the State, and that is to confine its sales without our borders. Prohibition can be made effective in this State if the people want it, and if they do not want it now, the day is not far distant when they will not only want but will demand it.
