A genial,pleasant gentleman is Mr. Wise. Congressman Lever spent Saturday and Sunday here. He is looking well and the hundreds of speeches he has made during the summer has not affected his physical condition in the least. Mrs. W, P. Roof is sojourning on Sullivan's Island. Mr. Roof spent a few days with Mrs. Roof before returning home from the State Bankers' association which met on the Isle of Palms last week. Dr. W. H. Dr. P. H. Shealy left Monday evening for Anderson to attend the State Dental association, which met in that city Tuesday. During his absence his office, over Roof's store, is closed. Mr. F. Hampton Hendrix, secretary of the Democratic Executive committee and a resident of Leesville, was here Monday. Mr. Hendrix is a business man of great ability, a high-toned Christian gentleman and numbers his friends by the legion. The rural carriers of the counties of Lexington, Aiken and Saluda, meet at Batesburg tomorrow. There will be a barbecue, and Congressman Lever and M,aj. W. W. Lumpkin will make addresses. Call at M.
