Brown, a farmer, who died a short time afterwards. Just what led to the difficulty no one seem to know, but it is stated by eyewitnesses that Brown was advancing on George with a drawn revolver when George shot him down. Dr. J. W. Eargle, who has been confined to his room for four weeks, is reported to be on the road to recovery. L. K. Eleazer, who broke his leg some time ago while hanling logs, is doing as well as could be expected. W. W. Eleazer, of the Shady Grove section, is now in. Columbia, under the care of Dr. Jas. Mcintosh. The Doctor operated on Mr. Eleazer last Friday and he is reported as doing nicely. \ L. H. Eleazer made a business trip to Columbia Saturday. * Miss Ethel Eleazer is expected home this week, having finished examinations for the term at the University of South Carolina. Mr. H. W. Sites, one of the "old vets," is on the sick list. Little Leon a Eleazer is home again. About four weeks ago she was operated 011 for appendicitis at the Columbia hospital. The G-rsats? Stora. We will save you money I Lexington Department Store. Sheriff Ccrley in Florida. Sheriff Corley left this morning for Lake City, Fla*, where he goes with requisition papers for J. B. DeLoach, white, a resident of Saiuda county, who, it i3 said, left several weeks ago, after getting lunds amounting to several hundred dollars from the Bank of Saluda and the. Citizens Bank of Batesburg, obtaining the same under false pretenses. Monument to Spencer. There will be erected to the memory of the late Samuel Spencer, president of the Southern railway, a monument, the same to be erected in Atlanta, Ga., he being a native Georgian. Each employer of the Southern is to contribute so much accordding to the amount of salary received, the same to be deducted from their pay roll for the month of March. In this way the employee receiving the smallest salary will likewise share in this worthy cause. A Dastardly Act. Memphis, Tenn., Feb. 10.?Mrs. Mercedes Donovan, wife of an officer of the Memphis fire department, was felled by an unknown assailant last night by a blow which broke her neck, while returning from a shopping tour, accompanied by several children. The attack occurred near Mrs. Donovan's home in a thick-y populated section of the city. She died within a short time after being removed to her home. Whether the highwayman was a negro or white, has not been establisned. Several suspects were arrested today. Robbery is thought to have been the object.
