Eliott Rufus Bachman was born May 12, 1891, and died Nov. 15, 1906, making his stay on earth 15 years, 6 months and 3 days. The deceased was the son of Mr. Henry Bachman and wife. He was a kind and affeci donate son just stepping out into manhood's day; so soon cut down to leave father,* mother, sisters and brothers, to sorrow after him. We trust their sorrow is his gain. A. R. T. Herbert C., son of P. G. and Mrs. S. A. Lowman, was born February 22, 1883, and died December 22. 1908, his age being 23 years and 10 months. She leaves a son with a wife and eight1 children; one brother and four sisters living; father, mother, two sisters and four brothers, preceded her to the spirit land. She was a life-long member of St. James E. L., church, Summit, S. C. She was kind and affectionate to all who came her way. A. R. T. Henry D. Smith died Dec. 25, 1906, aged 58 years, 9 months and 23 days. He was a man of indomitable energy, and from a small beginning, had developed a considerable business. He leaves to mourn his departure, 5 sons, 4*2 daughters, 5 grand-children, and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn his departure; his wite preceded him to the spirit land. He was an active member of St. Peter's E. L. church the greater part of his life, and we trust he has been transplanted from the church militant to the church triumphant. On Christmas morning, undaunted by the cold weather, the Sunday school together with visitors, assembled in the church, and were well entertained by exercises arranged and conducted by the superintendent who gave a present to each of the pupils, and special prizes to all who were present at every meeting of the Sunday school during the past session. At this very harmonious and pleasant meeting was closed another year's work of the Sunday school of one of t'i.e most historic and influential congregations in Lexington county. This congregation which has a membership of nearly three hundred at present, during her interesting and godblessed history, has given large numbers to other congregations which were organized largely out of her membership. She has sent out six or seven ministers of the word of God to preach in other fields, by whose mouths thousands have heard the sweet messenger of the glorious r\if Tocnc OViriaf. f.ha Sannr r?f all mankind, and Nazareth congregation under God's blessing is still doing a glorious work as' manifested by her charitable work and swelled enrollment. ^ (We note here roe fact that the unfortunate affair between Messrs Robfc. Shumpert and Ernest Younginer which occurred after the exercises had been concluded very pleasantly, the doors of the church closed, the congregation disbanded, and the people, almost to a man, had gone happily to their homes, was not caused by the exercises and had no connection with them, nor with the church or Sunday:school affairs.) Sheriff Corley, of Lexington county, today captured near the Brookland end of the Gervais street bridge a negro named John Moore, for whom Governor Glenn, of North Carolina, had offered a reward of $100, the darkey having shot down a white man on the streets of Gastonia about three weeks ago. Sheriff Corley will take his prisoner to Gastonia and collect his reward tomorrow. Several days ago Mr. Corley, who was on the lookout for Moore, was told that he had been seen in Lexington.
