Public sessions of the dispensary .investigating committee will be resumed today in Columbia, the Spartanburg scandals will probably be the first to open up. I sMk Fatal Collision. Four persons were killed and three injured in a bead end collision on the Seaboard Air Line railroad between a north bound passenger train aud extra freight, 14 na#M north of Columbia, near Blaney, at 7:16 o'clock on the morning of the 30tt. The dead are: A. A. Smeck, engineer, and Will White, the colored fireman of the freight train, both of whom lived in Hamlet, ai-d Postsl Cierks H. A. Pattillo, of Osteen, Fla.. and M. C Watkins of Putnam Hall, Fia. Those injured are. Jobu Robertson, the engineer, and D*d Douglass, the colored firemar, of the passenger train, both from Raleigh and Express Messinger D. E. Hinton, whoso home is said to be in Boykins, Ya. It is claimed that the accident was caused by a general misunderstanding of 'orders. This announcement was a great tur prise to the people of South Carolina and attracted considerable attention. Mr. Cochran i9 from Anderson and is a life-long Republican.
