' Mr. Isaac Edwards foreman of tbe grand jury and supervisor Langford "met Mr. D. H. Wise, Auditor of Aiken county to witness the settlement between Auditor Derrick and Treasurer Sbealy. Tbe settlement is * said to have been tbe most rigid - one ever made here and tbe result was that tbe books balanced to a cent. Treasurer P. W. Sbealy and Auditor G. A. Derrick are to be congratulated on tbe fire e ho wing they made # *8 faithful and competent officials, and trne to their every trust. Death of 2?r. D. A. Eutto. Mr. Daniel A. Hatto, after a lorg life full of honors, died at bis home near Pelion on Saturday the 14th, inst and hie remains were interred at New Hope church. He was one of the oldest citizens of that section, beiDg at the time Gf his death in the / 78th, yesr of his age. He was well . and favorably kDown and was highly ' r esteemed by his neighbors and friends which was attis ed by the large number of persons who attended his funeral services. t Appointed a Delegate. Hod. George Be!l Timmermao, of this place, has been appointed by Governor Hey ward as one of the . delegates to attend the National Conference on Immigration, which is '% to meet in New York on December 6th and 7th. Mr. Timmerman is a prominent member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics. This order is uncompromisingly opposed to immigration and fights under the watchwords of America for Americans.
