Now is the time for all good meD to get right. Let's take 10 cents for enough of our cotton to pay our guano and store accounts, end then | hold the remainder for 11 or 12cents, I which I do firmly believe we can get by so doing. Almost every State, or practically all in the cotton belt, are holding, so lot's hold on, and if we pull together, why we can get the best end of the rope, and if she breaks we can get all that is coming to us. Comptroller General Jones has received a number of inquiries as to what county officers should do where taxpayers refuse to pay the taxes on their dogs. The law appears to be plain. If a person who returns a dog has any other property it can be sold to collect the tax on the dog; in other words any property is liable for tax returns. Of course if the party returning a dog has no other property, then the dog is liable, but it is held that any property, real estate or personal property, is liable for a dog tax, where the dog is od the tax returns. n -j i.
