Brooks Wingard, E^q, has been appointed Magistrate for this magisterial district vice 0. S. Bradford, resigned. His title of Colonel will hereafter be dropped and from now on he will be known as "Judge Wiogard." He is a lawyer of ability and will fill the office with satisfaction to all by doing justice to all parties according to the law and evidence. Protracted Services. Protracted services will begin at Providence, July 23 at 10:30 a. m. Two sermons will be delivered on Sunday, morning and afternoon, as previously announced, and two sermons on each of the several following days. * An Enjoyable Occasion. The annual picnic at Barre's Upper Mill will take .place on July 27th. These animal gatherings of the old and young people of this vicinity, as well as other sections of the county, are looked forward to ^wittr much pleasure by all, and the probability is there will be a larger attendance this year than heretofore. , There will be music and dancing for those who love the mazes of the waltz and ice cream and other refreshments, including soda water sparkling fresh from the fountain, will be served. - . C., July 15, 1905 Death of J. Luther Long. Died, in the town of Lexington on Tuesday, July 18, 1905, at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Gus Lorick, Mr. Ji Luther Long, an estimable citizen of this town and county. Mr Long was aged somewhere up in the fifties and was born in the Dutch Fork section of the county and there be grew to manhood, married and raised a family. In the latter days of bis life, when the shades of the evening where dusting around his brow, be moved to this place and became a quiet, peaceable and useful citizen, and by hia upright walk, and sterling traits of Oh ristain man bood he commanded the love, the respect and the confidence of onr entire community. At the time of his death he was Steward at the Poor House and in the discharge of the duties of which he gave satisfaction bo those to whom he was responsible. F., of which he was a bright member, in the presence of a very large number of relatives and friends from the Fork and on this side of ;he river. Our sympathies are ex;ended to the bereaved family.
