The town authorities through its marshal, Mr. Jake Bickley, are having the back streets repaired, and the boshes and grass and stumps taken out. They are also building a fence around the Masonic lot along the new street which it is proposed | to open and also around the property of Dr. James Herman, on the lands of Col. M D. Harman and Dr. J. E. i v Kaufmann, so as to open the proposed extension of Depot street. All j these improvements are important and the council is deserving the commendation of all class of our citizens for taking this work in band. There is, bowever, one other thing the want of which has been loDg felt and that is the setting out of shade trees on both sides of Main and Depot streets. With this done it would not only beautify these streets, but "would greatly add to the convenience and comfort cf not only our own citizenehip, but to those of visitors and strangers also.
