To the Editor of the Dispatch: Styx is both a summer &Bd winter resort, and the most healthiest place you ever saw. I never 6aw a doctor oa Styx's hill bat cnce and then he was on his way to Lexingtou. If be lived here he would have to follow some other business besides practicing medicine for nobody gets sick a Styx's bill. Styx seems to be on a boom now. Prof. W. P. Steele has just closed s successful singing school at the Btyx sebo&i house. Come agaiD, Prolessor. Spires Bros, are cutting a lot r?f Jiice shingles, as is also Knight & Oienn. r The DaDville Lumber Co, is mowing on full time and are getting out some nice lumber. Borer Bros, are doing a rushing business in the lumber business now. *They are getting out a big bill for ihftt noted toil bridge in Columbia. Isn't it a shame when a man has te pay toll to go into the city. " ^ ? *? Mr. ?. It 0XDIEQ Die eou vuaiiic, mad wife, from Wagener, visited Mr. J. M. Stout and family, last Sunday. j ? We were glad to have them. There seems to be something very attractive just beyond the school house, as some of our boys go over ftere every Saturday night. There will be Sunday school at the school boose now every Sunday. Mrs. Rudolph Borer's mother, who had been visiting her, has returned to her home in Virginia. Anybody wanting to live long and keep good health, I would advise j them to come to Styx to live. Success to the Dispatch. Feb. 20, 1905. Rat. ! Catarrh Caaaot 1? To the Editor of the Dispatch: I will again send some mor6 items to my old home paper. The weather out here is very cold. We have had two freezes this winter. For 14 days the son did not ebice and it rained very Dear every day. Saturday night la9t another blew up and Sunday morning when we arose from our night's rest we discovered a sheet of ice covering the ground and sleet still falling. It continued to fall the larger part of the day with some snow, the wind blowing very hard and cold ail the time, that was very disagreable to every living creature. Now. some of you may mot know what I mean by saying a northerner came up. You, perhaps, may think as I did when some of the folks would speak of a northerner coining when I first arrived here. I thought and wondered what kind of an animal that was. Before long I came in contact with one of those northern animals as I thought it may be, while all the time it was very warm, a summer day almost A big blue cloud arose in the north and soon the wind began to blow cold as rf it was off of ice. Sometimes it continues for several days, though when the wind ceases to blow we have warm weather again. That is what I call a northerner. The weajther is very changeable oat Here, wnen we start out on a journey we would be wise to carry an umbrella, shawl and fan, as all three may come in very useful. During this last cold cattle have been lost. A great number froze to death. As the most of the ioiks raise a great many cattle they cannot shed them and they take the rain when it is freezing as when it is not. They may be covered with a sheet of ice and then take ice for their bed. How, would you be surprised to know of them dying? The farmers are still on the look out for dry weather eo that they can get the ground broken and plant their lands. It is about time to plant out berp, though the wet spell has prohibited them from so doing. They speak of reducing the acreage of cottoD and plant more corn. I should say that's right, and what we reap we will get a good price for it. What else will bring cotton up but to raise lees? We well know when it is carried into the markets so rapidly that there cannot be a great demand for it. The farmers gather a great crop of hay, their principal plant that they reap is what we call broom sage in Carolina. They have large farms of it and gather thousands of bale*-; makes very fine hay. They never cultivate these land3 where they get, this hay at all; just drive in cut, The Cause of Many Sudden Deaths. If you are feeling badly you'can make no mistake by taking Dr. Kilmer's Swamp=Root, the great kidney, liver and bladder remedy. It corrects inability to hold urine and scalding pain in passing it. and overcomes that unpleasant necessity of being compelled to go often through the day, and to get up many times during the night. The mil and the extraordinary effect of Swamp-Root is soon realized. It stands the highest for its wonderful cures of the most distressing cases. Swamp-Root is pleasant to take and is sold by all druggists in fifty-cent and one-dollar size bottles. You may have a sample bottle of this wonderful new discovery and a book that tells all about it, both sent free by mail. Address, Dr. Kilmer & Co., Binghamton, N. Y. When writing mention reading this generous offer in this paper. Don't make any mistake, but remember the name, SwampRoot, Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, and the address, Binghamton, N. I would be glad to see him as well as to help him eat his watermelon. I am longiDg for watermelon time to come as the folks say that they can raise some fine ones.
