We will send out au ?xtra tomorrow containing the Governor's message and other interesting reading. Legislature Meets. The Legislature of South Carolina met in General Assembly yesterday. wr, A* n i A ^ VUi vuiuuiuts pa^/cia tancu iu ?/wv in an appearance this morning and eonstquentiy we do not know what was done. We presume, however, that both branches were organized and the Governor's message was read. The session will probably last for forty days. We have no advice to give the Legislators as to what laws they must enact or what they aaet or must not da l?rs. Book Dead. Mrs. Simon Hook, residing near Gaston, died at her home on last Saturday. The interment was at the Kneece burying ground, at 11 a m. Sunday. She was s Christian woman who delighted in doing good works. Her death is a great lose to the eomm unity in which she lived. Proa Halfway Hollow. To the Editor of the Dispatch. Kind Editor, I have been absent from your columns for sometime, but | I bad Dot forgot you. Now the political squall is over, the holidays are about past aod the old year bas passed and the new year has come in, how many of us are thankful from our hearts to see 1905? Now, dear readers, let us set resolutions not to be broken, to live more to our duties this year, to our God, ourselves and our fellowman. Church member, how did you keep Christmas, did you set your Lord * to in open shame? The farmers are already making preparations for another crop, notwithstanding there is some corn yet in the field. Peas will be scarce this year. Farmer, if you have not your seed, get them at orce. Which is the worst: To use dis pensary funds for school purposes or except money from blind tiger men for missioD purposes ? Mr. J 0 Day bas come down off the house top, but his trousers are badly worn. It is a ten pound boy. ? We are glad to say our people were very quite through the holidays. There was no booze hereabouts. Well, Mr. Editor, ft is bad I and vou have no fish to eat and yet the fjvlsof the air have plenty. The mill dam at Steadman is broken. This is also bad on those who have hauling to do from this side to Steadman. We hope this will be mended at once. We see Mr. W. L. Qaatttebanm, of Steadman, is now rnnning bis gin by 8team power. Their are laws against a great many frauds, why Dot have one against the ehoe manufacturers for using paper and packing for leather in ehoe soles. Some parties ere letting their dogs run at large hereabouts. That is unlawful. Look out, if I am not under a mistake, the hoe is $25 Some of our public highways bearaboute have not; been worked in a whole year. We hope the new board will so arrange as to have our ro ds worked. We wish the D<spa ci a happy 1905. Trav* ller. From Friceville. To the Editor of the Dispatch: Fulfill every good resolution for the new year. Wells, a great many of which have been totally dry for the past three months, are now supplying nearly a sufficient amount of water for ordinary purposes. Small grain in this section is looking well. Miss Minnie Butler, of Kershaw county, is veiling relatives and fricn^a in ihia rtnmmiinilv. The school bouse at St. Paul's is undergoing repairs which are under the skillful management of Mr. Killian Hock. On account of above repairs, one week's vacation has been added to Miss Roof's Xtnas holidays. Rev. W. H- Roof, former pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church, and who is attending the Theological Seminary at Charleston, spent the holidays with his people at home. Mr. Jesse D. Price is erecting a handsome dwelling?a cage for the bird already caught. Very iikely we will soon have the advantage of a much needed R. F. D. route from Gilbert. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Havaird, of Salads, visited relatives here last weekMr. Qainton B. Keisler and wife visited relatives at Lexington last week. Mrs H. C. Price and children, of Brookl&nd, visited relatives and ffiends here last week. Jan. 7, 1905.
